Formally established in 2021, the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust (NCA) is one of the largest NHS providers in England, employing around 20,000 staff and serving a diverse population of 1 million people across the North part of Greater Manchester. The NCA works in a group arrangement with Care Organisations in each of our four localities - Salford, Oldham, Bury and Rochdale.  Our Care Organisations provide community and hospital services and are supported by our NCA-wide diagnostics and pharmacy services, and corporate functions. The Salford Care Organisation has a Chief Officer and senior leadership team with accountability and authority to govern the high quality and delivery of a significant range of community and primary care services across the city, and at Salford Royal Hospital. The Salford Care Organisation also provides specialist services across Greater Manchester and beyond. Salford Royal is now the major trauma centre for Greater Manchester, and the hub site for high-risk emergency general surgery for Salford, Bolton, and Wigan.

At this time of significant change in the health and care sector, the opportunity has arisen for a new Director of Nursing to join the Salford Care Organisation.  As a key member of our Leadership Team, you will have shared accountability for setting the strategic direction and overall delivery of a wide and complex range of health and care services in the Salford ‘place’.  As we restore our services from the pandemic and address some key quality and safety challenges, you will provide vision, inspiration, professional leadership, and strategic direction to strong, established Nursing and AHP leaders and their diverse teams; promoting excellence in all areas of clinical practice and patient care. Working as a key part of the NCA family the role also offers the opportunity to contribute to our groupwide improvement initiatives, building best practice and maintaining our focus on reducing health inequalities across all our populations.

We are keen to hear from nursing leaders who can bring a fresh perspective, passion, energy, and drive to our journey. Bringing significant senior leadership experience gained in complex provider environments you will offer a track record of building cultures that support the continuous improvement of services with a clear focus on the experience of both patients and colleagues. Comfortable operating across organisational boundaries, your strong communication skills will enable you to quickly build collaborative and constructive relationships in the Care Organisation, the NCA group and with our partners across the Salford place.  Most importantly, you will bring your confidence, kindness, integrity, and flexibility; acting as a role model for our values and behaviours in all you do.
