Leadership Recruitment

Dear Candidate

Thank you for your interest in Salford Care Organisation, and this great opportunity to join us as our new Director of Nursing.

Formally established on 1 October 2021, the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust (NCA) is one of the largest and most respected NHS providers in England, employing around 20,000 staff and serving a diverse population of 1 million people across the North part of Greater Manchester. The NCA brings together staff and services from Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust (SRFT) and The Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust (PAT) to create a trust that works in a group arrangement with Care Organisations in each of our four localities – Salford, Oldham, Bury and Rochdale.

The NCA’s Care Organisations are designed to operate within a group arrangement of hospitals, community and healthcare services.  They are responsible for the strategic direction and day-to-day running of their hospital and community services, ensuring safe delivery of high-quality care at scale. Salford Care Organisation is responsible for a range of community and primary care services across the city, and at Salford Royal Hospital. It also provides specialist services across Greater Manchester and beyond. Our aim is to deliver consistently high standards of care to all our patients and to be an employer of choice for our dedicated and diverse colleagues.

As the Director of Nursing for Salford Care Organisation, you will be a key member of the Care Organisation Leadership Team, reporting to me, Pete Turkington, Chief Officer, and have shared responsibility for the strategic direction and overall delivery of performance and financial sustainability, across a wide range of health and care services. You will be responsible for clinical and corporate governance in the Care Organisation, and will provide vision, inspiration, professional leadership, and strategic direction to the Nursing and AHP teams, promoting excellence in all areas of clinical practice and patient care, ensuring that quality and patient safety is at the heart of everything we do.

The Director of Nursing will also work with leaders at Group level particularly with me, Heather Caudle as Group Chief Nurse, and you will engage beyond the Care Organisation with our partners in the Salford placeWe recognise that we have some challenges to improve the quality and safety of our services and to ensure our colleagues are supported and empowered to drive forward improvement initiatives. We are committed to reducing health inequalities in the diverse populations that we serve, and this will be a great opportunity for an experienced nursing leader to bring fresh thinking and energyworking with our strong and diverse teams to lead our ongoing improvement journey as well as ensure we continue to maximise the opportunities of our role as part of the wider NCA Group

If you are an experienced Deputy Chief Nurse, or senior nursing leader with a breadth of experience, a reputation for clinical leadership, quality, improvement and a focus on equality and inclusion for colleagues and populations, we are keen to hear from you. We warmly welcome applications from members of our vibrant and diverse communities, and we are committed to developing a truly inclusive culture. This is an exciting, rewarding, and complex role, with the opportunity to make a real difference in reducing health inequalities and improving the health and wellbeing of our populations, as we focus on our vision to be the safest and most effective organisation in the NHS.

We encourage you to read further to find out more about us and take up the opportunity to contact our advising consultants at GatenbySanderson for an initial conversation: Jude Watters, Emma Pickup, or Niamh Blair on 07590 225470.

We look forward to meeting you during the process.
